GRACIE ROCKS GIRLS ON THE RUN !!!

D4 gives Globally for the Holiday Season !

In learning about the word " Charity" our class decided that we wanted to be charitable by donating money and new toys for Operation Christmas Child. This all stemmed from my discussion about how I was being charitable by filling two boxes with gifts for Operation Christmas Child which will be sent to  countries all of the the world to children who are less fortunate and are unable to have anything for Christmas.
This sparked a huge discussion! " Ms. Davis can we fill a box too? " " I wanna do it too, Ms. Davis! "
"Ok. guys lets see who can raise at least  $ 7.00 to pay for shipping and I will put in the rest to fill the boxes with toys and goodies !"  ( Participation was totally optional, not mandatory, though many of them chose to give)

And the race begin .......

Take a Walk Day in D4's Shoes- A Parent Night to Remember !

Take a Walk in Your Students Shoes was a great parent night in which the students had to allow their parents to experience their life as a fourth grade students. The "student teachers" were very excited to share and teach their parents about what we were learning about in reading, writing, and math.

The night all started with my first teacher Jeremiah Holmes. He could hardly wait to teach is Uncle everything about  how to find area and perimeter, nonfiction features, and he also wanted his Uncle to read his published realistic fiction story. He was moving so quickly I didn't get a chance to snag his picture ! THANKS JEREMIAH - YOU STARTED THIS PARENT NIGHT OFF JUST RIGHT !

Jeremiah shares his prized possession, his football helmet. He also explained the importance of wearing a football helmet during the game. His classmates enjoyed it and of course Jeremiah loved sharing it.
